Announcement for DPS 2013: New plan for "Agency Night" features...me!

Traditionally at meetings featuring lots of space science, funding agencies like NASA and the National Science Foundation make presentations to conference attendees at an event called "NASA Night" or "Agency Night." But because of the federal government shutdown, no civil servants from any American agency are able to travel or even allowed to speak at such an event. Therefore the Division for Planetary Sciences has had to replan their Agency Night to feature others who can talk about the bigger picture of planetary science funding. The Planetary Society is one such organization. So I'll be representing the Society at tomorrow's Agency Night. Here's the program, which begins at 7:30 and can go until 9:00, though I hope we'll get out earlier:

  • Christina Richey: R&A program updates
  • Janet Luhmann: PSS activities
  • Makenzie Lystrup: Federal Relations Committee of the DPS
  • Emily Lakdawalla: The Planetary Society

This would probably be a good time to mention that I couldn't represent The Planetary Society at this meeting if it weren't for the generous support of our wonderful members.
