“Until we hear” MER Mission Manager Scott Lever decided the day after the rover shut down to wait out the storm to begin growing a beard, and will continue to let it grow “until we hear from Oppy or give up trying.” The selfie on the left was taken shortly after the team lost contact. The one on the right was taken on Sep. 26, 2018, after 108 days of silence. The image on the right was snapped, after coiffing, at the end of October.
