Orbital Fields 07 Mette Oldager is a Copenhagen-based painter working in acrylic on canvas, whose process works with physics rather than against it. She allows the paint to flow freely within taped geometric boundaries, spreading and settling according to gravity's constraints. Structure defines the field; physics does the rest. Growing up, her father's astronomy magazines were a fixture on the coffee table. Passing images of galaxies and orbital diagrams and explorations of the vastness of space left behind a lingering feeling of wonder and wanderlust. In her latest series, Orbital Fields, these memories are reflected in her paintings, which capture a brief glimpse into the windows of our Cosmos. Mette Oldager
