JWST images Fomalhaut
JWST images Fomalhaut JWST captured this image of dust and debris rings around the young star Fomalhaut. Planets are likely present in the gaps between the concentric rings. The distance from the central star, which is masked by a dark spot, to the outer edge of the rings is roughly 23 billion kilometers (14 billion miles). For reference, our Solar System's Kuiper Belt ends at about 7.4 billion kilometers (4.6 billion miles). This image was released on May 8, 2023.
