Epimetheus on March 30, 2005
Epimetheus on March 30, 2005 This was Cassini's first high-resolution view of Epimetheus, captured from a range of about 75,000 kilometers and a phase angle of about 115 degrees. The image has been magnified by a factor of two from its original size. NASA / JPL-Caltech / SSI / Emily Lakdawalla

The color image was made with a combination of red- and green-filter data; no blue-filter data were available, and the UV-filter data were blurry and truncated at the top. The blue channel was synthesized with green minus some red. Many cosmic ray hits were painted out.
