Io color mosaic from Galileo orbit C21

Io color mosaic from Galileo orbit C21
Io color mosaic from Galileo orbit C21 This global mosaic of Io's anti-jovian hemisphere is comprised of images acquired by the Galileo Solid-State Imaging Experiment (SSI) during an encounter on July 2, 1999, using the camera's violet, green, and 756 nm NIR filters. Gores in the image data from that orbit were filled either with a single filter (red or green) grayscale image or with data from orbit E4 (December 1996). A blue plume can be seen at the lower right of the mosaic emanating from the volcano Masubi Patera. NASA / JPL / Jason Perry
