This blog now has comments!

Every once in a while I get an email from a reader expressing irritation with the fact that this blog doesn't permit comments. The reasons have always been technical/financial, not philosophical, so I'm really happy to announce that Brandon the computer problem solver guy has found a way to convince this website to allow comments on posts. We still have some kinks to work out (such as the fact that there's not yet any link to where you can make a comment from the blog homepage), but they're functional and I can see and respond to them.

If you would like to comment on a post, make sure you're looking at the individual post article, not the blog homepage. You can get to the article by clicking on the article's title. For instance, on this post, clicking on the text "This blog now has comments!" will get you to the page where you can comment. We're working on making this more obvious from the blog homepage.

Since comments open up the possibility of nastiness, some basic rules: Be polite. Keep it G-rated. Keep it relevant to the post. I reserve the right to delete anything with or without reason. Please disagree and argue, but do it politely! And if you see a comment claiming we never landed on the Moon or there's Mayan civilizations on Mars, be sensible -- just don't respond. Don't feed the loonies.
