Recorded at the 2025 Humans to the Moon and Mars Summit (H2M2) at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., this panel explores how diplomacy, shared values, and international partnerships are shaping the future of human space exploration. As more nations and commercial entities join the Artemis program, frameworks like the Artemis Accords are helping ensure that exploration beyond Earth is peaceful, cooperative, and sustainable.

Moderated by Mat Kaplan, senior communications advisor at The Planetary Society, the conversation features Mike Gold, president of civil and international space business at Redwire and one of the architects of the Artemis Accords; Marc Jochemich, head of the DLR Washington Office at the German Aerospace Center; Adnan Mohammad Alrais, assistant director general of space operations and exploration at the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre in the UAE; and Sohair Salam Saber, president of The Hague Institute for Global Justice and co-founder of the Washington Compact. Together, they discuss the role of diplomacy in ensuring equitable access to space and highlight efforts like the Washington Compact, which extends shared norms to commercial space actors and civil society.

This panel was part of H2M2 2025, hosted by Explore Mars, a summit that brings together leaders in science, policy, and industry to advocate for a unified and ethical approach to lunar and Martian exploration.
