When the sky cleared
When the sky cleared The MER team didn’t hear from Opportunity in September, but the whole world was able to see her thanks to HiRISE, a high-resolution camera onboard NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. On Sep. 20, 2018, HiRISE took this image, which shows that the rover is still hunkered down at her site about halfway down Perseverance Valley, which cuts the western rim of Endeavour Crater. The golf cart size rover could almost be mistaken for a boulder. The square highlighting the rover is about one kilometer (a half-mile) across. NASA / JPL-Caltech / University of Arizona
