Vera C. Rubin's ocean of stars

Vera C. Rubin's ocean of stars
Vera C. Rubin's ocean of stars This 1.7-gigapixel image of a field of stars in the constellation Lupus showcases the capabilities of the NSF–DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory. Combining a wide view of the sky with the ability to detect extremely faint objects, Rubin can study distant galaxies, individual stars, and even asteroids. The faint, glowing clouds in this image are interstellar gas and dust. NSF–DOE Rubin Observatory/NOIRLab/SLAC/AURA
