Sippar Sulcus calderas on Ganymede This high-resolution Galileo SSI mosaic shows a lobate, flow-like feature that is the best candidate yet seen for an icy volcanic lava flow on Ganymede. The morphology suggests the possibility of volcanic eruptions creating a channel and flow, and cutting down into the surface. North is to the bottom of the picture and the sun illuminates the surface from the left. The images were taken on May 7, 1997 at a resolution of 172–180 meters per pixel. The mosaic was created by unmannedspaceflight.com user OWW. NASA / JPL / OWW
