Galileo "I24" image, scrambled (left) and repaired (right) During Galileo's I24 flyby on October 11, 1999, a "single-event upset" in the computer caused by an energetic particle resulted in the scrambling of the Io images. Some hard work eventually enabled them to be mostly descrambled.
