Orion Nebula seen by JWST NIRCam
Orion Nebula seen by JWST NIRCam JWST captured this image of the Orion Nebula using the telescope's near-infrared camera, NIRCam. At the center is the young Trapezium Cluster of stars, the most massive of which illuminate the surrounding gas and dust. Protostars are forming in the molecular cloud behind them. There are thousands of stars sprinkled across the field. ESA released this image on Oct. 2, 2023. NASA, ESA, CSA / Science leads and image processing: M. McCaughrean, S. Pearson
