Oppy’s parting shot After transmitting this incomplete shot in June 2018, the historic global dust storm forced Opportunity to shut down. The robot likely suffered a low-power fault just after it took this image. It presumably then went into a kind of hibernation to wait out the planet-encircling dust event (PEDE).
