MRO's 100,000th image This is the 100,000th image captured by the HiRISE camera aboard NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, which has been studying the red planet since 2006. Captured on Oct. 7, 2025, this image shows mesas and dunes within Syrtis Major, a region about 80 kilometers (50 miles) southeast of Jezero Crater, which NASA’s Perseverance rover is exploring.
