Mastcam-34 panorama of the Kimberley, Curiosity sol 589 Curiosity took the 6 images for this panorama of the science stop called "the Kimberley" just after arriving at the destination on sol 589. Most of the image is occupied by the "striated unit," layered rocks that appear stripey as seen from orbit. In the background, a scarp marks the transition to the "middle unit". Curiosity is expected to spend several weeks exploring these rocks, and will likely drill into at least one of them. NASA / JPL / MSSS / Emily Lakdawalla
