Marius Regio, Ganymede
Marius Regio, Ganymede NASA's Galileo spacecraft imaged Marius Regio, a region of ancient dark terrain, as it passed Ganymede during its second orbit through the Jovian system. The images were taken on September 6, 1996 at a range of 18,522 kilometers (11,576 miles) and a resolution of 188 meters (627 feet) per pixel. North is to the top-left of the picture, and the sun illuminates the surface from the southeast. This mosaic was created by unmannedspaceflight.com user OWW. NASA / JPL / OWW
