The Great Red Spot from the South

The Great Red Spot from the South
The Great Red Spot from the South As the JUNO spacecraft headed away from Jupiter after its close look at the Great Red Spot, it looked backwards at this vast reddish storm nearing the horizon. This is an attempt to bring out the fine textures in the original data as well as to move the color balance toward values consistent with other high resolution Jupiter images. The brightness of Jupiter before an observer is imagined, with no dark values of sunlit surfaces coming anywhere near the black of space. The brightness values for the green image were used to provide a curved horizon without the color fringing of the original combined color channels.
