Gullies in the Mist
Gullies in the Mist Another gem discovered in the latest release of images from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. At 3:49 pm local time on Halloween 2019, the clouds parted just enough for the HiRISE camera to glimpse these gullies in the wall of an unnamed crater in the southern highlands. Gullies like these fascinate Mars explorers because some of them are thought to seep with liquid water from underground aquifers.
