Galactic Core at Lake Sugema Planetary Society member Zaakary Barnes took this photo of the Milky Way shortly after a new Moon. Zaak says "This is a 25" exposure of the galactic core combined with a 1" exposure at Lake Sugema, near Keosauqua, Iowa. Like most people, I live in an urban area where light pollution makes shots like this impossible. I had to drive four hours round trip just to get this view. As more people participate in the Year of the Great Outdoors, it's important to remember to turn your lights off, conserve energy, and protect the night." Zaakary Barnes
