First-ever STEP Grant winners This is an image of The Planetary Society's first-ever STEP Grant winners. Bojan Novakovic (on the left) is an assistant professor in the Department of Astronomy at the University of Belgrade in Serbia. His team's planetary defense project uses a new technique to study near-Earth asteroids. Jean-Luc Margot (on the right) is a professor in the UCLA Department of Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences. He is also a professor in the UCLA Department of Physics and Astronomy. His team is creating a radio SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) citizen science project. The Planetary Society
