False alarm

False alarm
False alarm In mid-August 2018, it looked like Opportunity lit up on the DSN Now boards and was phoning home. It turned out to be a false alarm. NASA’s Deep Space Network (DSN) is a worldwide network of U.S. spacecraft communication facilities, located in California, Madrid, Spain, and Canberra Australia. The DSN supports all NASA's interplanetary spacecraft missions and is in operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days per year. The graphic above shows NASA’s spacecraft at Mars communicating with Earth via the DSN antenna at Goldstone, CA. JPL manages the DSN operations. NASA / JPL-Caltech
