Curiosity's first Vera Rubin Ridge drill site workspace, sol 1969
Curiosity's first Vera Rubin Ridge drill site workspace, sol 1969 This is the area in front of the rover where Curiosity will make its first attempt at drilling in more than 500 sols. The two dump sites are where Curiosity dropped the remaining Ogunquit Beach sample from its sample handling mechanism on sol 1969. The two circled areas show where Curiosity brushed with its dust removal tool (DRT). The drill attempt is likely to be on the same rock that Curiosity brushed. One spot in the lower right corner of this image that was blocked by part of the arm has been filled in with a colorized Navcam image taken while the arm was in use.
