Before and after: Clay mineral locations at the rim of Endeavour crater mapped by CRISM with optional rover traverse Scientists using CRISM on Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter have mapped locations where CRISM spectral data contain hints of the presence of different kinds of smectite, which is a clay mineral. The hints of clay are what brought Opportunity to Endeavour. The yellow line shows Curiosity's path up to about sol 3654 (5 May 2014). Use the slider on the image to include or remove the rover traverse. NASA / JPL-Caltech / University of Arizona / map by Emily Lakdawalla after maps by Ray Arvidson, WUSTL
