Hayabusa2 SCI experiment images
Japan's Hayabusa2 spacecraft recorded these images of dust and rock spraying away from asteroid Ryugu after the spacecraft fired a copper plate into the surface on 5 April 2019. Hayabusa2 later collected a sample from the resulting 10-meter-wide crater for return to Earth. The left image is enlarged on the right.

JAXA images may be reused for educational or informational purposes, with restrictions. Visit JAXA's website for more information on their image use policy.
