This four-image mosaic of Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko is made of images taken February 14 at 14:15 UTC at a distance of 8.9 kilometers from the surface. The mosaic measures about 1.35 kilometers on a side; it has been rotated here to make the apparent horizon horizontal. The image focuses on the stunning features of the Imhotep region, on the comet’s large lobe.
Curiosity took the photos for this mosaic on an outcrop named Mount Shields on sol 971 (April 30, 2015), after a short "bump" designed to put the outcrop within reach of the tools on the robotic arm. The outcrop is located in an area called "Logan's Run," to the north of Logan Pass and to the west of Pahrump Hills.
