This animation shows a 200-meter-high dune on Mars and evidence of an avalanche. It was created using digital terrain model and image data from the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera aboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.

Adrian Lark creates these animations using a 3D engine that he wrote himself that actually generates the fly-throughs in real-time, just like in a video game.
