Noachian valley networks near Newcomb Crater, Mars

Noachian valley networks near Newcomb Crater, Mars
Noachian valley networks near Newcomb Crater, Mars Large swaths of Mars' southern highlands are dissected by branching valley networks like the one in this Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter Context Camera photo. The number of craters that overlie them suggest that the valley networks are quite ancient. This image covers an area about 30 kilometers east-west by 60 kilometers north-south. NASA / JPL / MSSS

When enlarged to its fullest, the image has a resolution of 10 meters per pixel. The original data (CTX image B09_013321_1526_XI_27S002W) has a resolution of 5.21 meters per pixel.
