Storm chasers
Storm chasers In its fury, the storm that caused Opportunity to shut down and hibernate presented “an unprecedented opportunity to learn more about Mars, and the many challenges that it presents for exploration,” as Jim Watzin, Director of the Mars Exploration Program at NASA Headquarters, defined it during a NASA teleconference in June 2018. The space agency directed every one of its assets at Mars to enable scientists to observe and study this rare, massive storm from many different instruments and perspectives. “We’re all pulling for Opportunity,” said Watzin.
