South Pole of Mercury
South Pole of Mercury This portrait of Mercury's south pole is by Canadian artist, retired teacher and Planetary Society member Susan Gaby-Trotz. Susan Gaby-Trotz

Made using traditional rug hooking techniques, the original piece is 25″ x 19″, made of hand-cut wool and jersey, sari silk, wool roving, wool and synthetic yarn on linen. It was designed based on false-color images from NASA's MESSENGER spacecraft showing impact craters.
