Shot by a bot "Dusty," a working replica of Opportunity at JPL, shot this 360-degree panorama of members of the MER ops team using her Navigation Camera (Navcam) on Sep. 6, 2018. The photo session was part of a software test. The test worked as evidenced by the image. But after being forced to shut down by a planet-encircling dust event (PEDE) in June 2018, Oppy did not respond to any of the more than 835 commands sent by the team and she never phoned home on her own. But after nearly 15 years of roving the surface of Mars, she went out a robot star. NASA/JPL-Caltech
