Selfie first looks

Selfie first looks
Selfie first looks The images above show the first looks at Opportunity’s self-portrait, which she took on her 5000th day of working on Mars. Left shows a first ‘draft’ processing by author and planetary outreach educator, and frequent MER Update image contributor Stuart Atkinson. Though rough, it shows the first vision of this beloved rover in her Sol 5000 moment on Mars. The second image was processed by the team at JPL in the days before the rover and her selfie team added a tier of images, and James Sorenson and Don Davis processed another, more complete version in near true Martian color as posted at the top of this report.
