Rocky science
Rocky science During the last week in April 2018, Opportunity backed uphill, roving right past an outcrop of tabular rocks (left) that the team planned on checking out. But as the robot eased backed down the slope, the scientists changed that plan and decided to check out another vesicular-like rock that was also in the area, which the team soon named Allende after the stop on El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro (not the Chilean president).
