A river runs through it This image of a location nicknamed "Skrinkle Haven" comes from a larger mosaic captured by NASA's Perseverance Mars rover in February and March 2023. NASA released the image on May 11, 2023. Scientists think that the bands of rocks seen in this image may have been formed by a very fast, deep river — the first of its kind seen on Mars.
