Oppy’s body, brains, heart, and power pack The diagram on the left shows the basic layout of the Mars Exploration Rovers’ suite of scientific instruments. The diagram on the right reveals the interior of the rover’s body, aka the Warm Electronics Box (WEB), which protects the rover ́s brains and heart and is located just below the solar array “winglets.” It shows the location of the RAD6000 computer that serves as the robot's brain. Along with the parallel lithium ion battery pack (lower left) that powers the rover and other electronics, it is housed in the Rover Electronics Module (REM), which sits inside the WEB protected from frigid Martian nights.
