Opportunity’s walkabout

Opportunity’s walkabout
Opportunity’s walkabout Opportunity spent the month of June surveying the area above Perseverance Valley in what geologists call a walkabout, surviving not only a jammed wheel but at times a blinding afternoon Sun. The annotations for the graphic on the right that details the walkabout were meticulously documented by Phil Stooke, an associate professor at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, author of The International Atlas of Mars Exploration Volumes 1 and 2, (Cambridge University Press). The base image was taken by the HiRISE camera onboard MRO. NASA / JPL-Caltech / UA / P. Stooke
