Newell Trask’s pinpoint landing targets in Apollo Landing Sites 2, 3 and 5 The smaller ellipses are the original Apollo landing ellipses, but uncertainties introduced by irregularities in the Moon’s gravity (Mascons) caused them to be lengthened for the first two landings. The long ellipses are about 15 by 5 km. The Cinder Lake model areas are marked in Site 2. Maps by Phil Stooke
