Gentry Lee and Carl Sagan
Gentry Lee and Carl Sagan This image shows JPL’s Gentry Lee with Planetary Society co-founder Carl Sagan. The two first became close while working together on NASA's Viking mission to Mars in the mid-1970s, where Sagan served on Lee's science team. After Viking, they outlined 13 episodes of a television series they called Man in the Cosmos, which would eventually become the landmark 1980 PBS series Cosmos. Lee served as co-developer and producer of the series alongside Sagan. Starman / Obscured Pictures
