Gentry Lee and Arthur C. Clarke This image shows Gentry Lee from JPL with science fiction legend Arthur C. Clarke, with whom he co-authored the bestselling Rama series. Their partnership began when Clarke visited NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory around 1980 and the two struck up a friendship. Clarke later invited Lee to write a series of novels together, with Clarke serving as editor. The collaboration produced several books, including sequels to Clarke's classic novel Rendezvous with Rama, in which a mysterious cylindrical spacecraft appears in our Solar System having traveled from another star.
