Enceladus, Prometheus, and the F ring

Enceladus, Prometheus, and the F ring
Enceladus, Prometheus, and the F ring Cassini captured this bizarre view of Enceladus while the moon was in Saturn's shadow, on approach to its November 2 close encounter with the moon. This approximate true color composite shows Enceladus and its plumes silhouetted against the F ring, with the barely Saturnlit night side of Prometheus below and to the right. NASA / JPL-Caltech / SSI / color composite by Gordan Ugarkovic

This version of the image contains many artifacts due to the JPEG compression of Cassini's raw images; a better version will be possible once the data are released to the PDS.
