Earth volcanic flow compared to Tycho crater interior
Earth volcanic flow compared to Tycho crater interior (Top) North crater flow (or more appropriately the river of molten rock!) produced by volcanic activity at COTM. (Bottom) Massive flow of molten rock at crater Tycho on the Moon generated by a large impact. The 3D view has been created using data from Terrain Camera onboard Japanese Kaguya mission. The small crater in the top right is about 400 meters across and vertical exaggeration is 5 times. Note that the top image was taken on the ground while bottom image was taken from space so the smooth look in the bottom image will be drastically different on the ground (and that’s why our effort to collect the ground truth at COTM!).
