Curiosity's drill poised over the CheMin inlet, sol 2068
Curiosity's drill poised over the CheMin inlet, sol 2068 With the new feed-extended sample transfer technique, Curiosity must deposit drilled powder into the CheMin and SAM instruments using its drill. It rotates the drill a small amount, so that powder moves down the inside of the drill sleeve and falls into the instrument. This photo was taken as a check of how close the drill actually got to the inlet of CheMin during delivery. During this check, the CheMin inlet cover was not opened. NASA / JPL / MSSS
