Nicholson Regio, Ganymede

Nicholson Regio, Ganymede
Nicholson Regio, Ganymede Impact craters dominate the surface down to the smallest features visible on the dark terrain of the Nicholson Regio region of Jupiter's moon Ganymede in this image taken by NASA's Galileo spacecraft during its May 20, 2000 flyby. It is the highest resolution view ever obtained of Ganymede's dark terrain. North is to the top and the Sun illuminates the surface from the west. The mosaic, centered at ~15°N, 337°W, covers an area approximately 237 by 130 kilometers (147 by 81 miles) at a resolution of 125 meters (410 feet) per pixel. NASA / JPL / OWW
