Martian sand dunes
This snapshot from NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter shows features that almost look like hoof prints on the Martian surface. They are, in fact, giant sand dunes. Images like these can teach Mars scientists about wind patterns in the planet’s thin atmosphere.

Most NASA images are in the public domain. Reuse of this image is governed by NASA's image use policy.
