Jason Davis • August 14, 2014

"A Spacecraft for All" is a new website by Google Creative Labs that will host citizen science data from the ISEE-3 Reboot Project.

How Arecibo Observatory Transmits to the ISEE-3 Spacecraft

Alessondra Springmann • July 16, 2014 • 2

Talking to spacecraft is a normal occurrence at Arecibo Observatory, but sometimes the nuts and bolts are a little unconventional.

After decades of silence, a vintage spacecraft says hello to Earth

The ISEE-3 Reboot Project has established two-way communication with a 36-year-old spacecraft, but more challenges lie ahead.

Returning Explorers

Achim Vollhardt • March 28, 2014 • 3

ICE has been on a journey for over 30 years around our sun. While the owner has decided not to bring the ship back to its home port, a group of radio amateurs tries to find out how ICE is doing.

ICE/ISEE-3 update: Amateurs detect its signal while professionals study contacting it

Emily Lakdawalla • March 20, 2014 • 7

Since the last time I reported on ICE/ISEE-3, there have been several developments. Its signal has been detected by several Earth-based observers, and there is now some (though slight) hope of reestablishing command over the spacecraft.

ICE/ISEE-3 to return to an Earth no longer capable of speaking to it

Emily Lakdawalla • February 07, 2014 • 44

It's with great sadness that I report that the Goddard Space Flight Center team has determined that we will not be able to regain control of the venerable spacecraft ICE/ISEE-3 when it passes by Earth this year, after a 30-year journey around the Sun.

ICE is returning to Earth; but do we have the will to regain control?

My collage of all the asteroids and comets visited by spacecraft is probably the single most popular image I have ever posted on this blog. I've now updated it to be in color and to include Toutatis.

Spectacular animation of Halley's comet

Emily Lakdawalla • November 26, 2009

It's a holiday and I'm enjoying time with the family, so rather than write a lot, I will let a spectacular image do the talking for me.

"IT'S ALIVE!"

Emily Lakdawalla • October 03, 2008

That's the subject line of an email that Lou Friedman forwarded to me last week. He'd received it from Robert Farquhar, who has a long and distinguished career as flight director for numerous space missions. The "IT" in his email was ISEE-3/ICE.
