Juno's orbital mission

Juno's orbital mission
Juno's orbital mission Juno enters orbit on July 5, 2016 at around 02:30 UTC. Its first two orbits are long ones lasting 53.5 days each (green). On its second periapsis after orbit insertion, Juno will shrink its orbit to one that will take only two weeks (blue). Over time, the orbit will shrink, the apoapsis will shift toward the night side of Jupiter, and the orbit will tilt so that the apoapsis is farther and farther to the south. The Juno mission will end with an impact into Jupiter on perijove number 37 on February 21, 2018. NASA / JPL / SwRI
