Cratered terrain on Vesta
Filed under pretty pictures, asteroid 4 Vesta, Dawn
Seen in dramatically low-angled lighting, craters on Vesta spring into relief. More recent craters have crisp edges and raised rims, while older craters are more subdued. This photo was taken on August 11, 2011, while the spacecraft was in survey orbit.
