Welcome to all of you who are coming in from NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day! I hope you'll stick around to read more about the robotic exploration of our solar system.

It's axiomatic that as soon as I post about pretty Cassini pictures, another set of pretty photos will appear on the raw images website. This one is part of a series showing Dione passing in front of Titan. I always enjoy the contrast in brightness and sharpness between any of the icy moons and Titan's dim, fuzzy blob.

Dione and Titan

Dione passes in front of Titan in this Cassini color composite from April 10, 2010. Dione's icy surface is considerably more reflective than Titan's smoggy atmosphere.
