Venus' clouds in the near-infrared Akatsuki took this photo of Venus' nightside with its 2-micron camera (at a wavelength of 2.26 microns) on April 26, 2016, from an altitude of 76,000 kilometers. The clouds are backlit by thermal emission from the lower atmosphere.
