Visual Monitoring Camera on the Cluster spacecraft Visual Monitoring Cameras (VMCs) are mounted on several ESA spacecraft, including two of the Cluster spacecraft (Rumba and Samba) as well as Mars Express, XMM-Newton, and Herschel-Planck. On Cluster, its role was to image the separation of the pairs of Cluster spacecraft.
